The Emerging Collectors Brunch Series Pt 4

Thank you to all participants of this series. Your vision and ability to see beyond the current art landscape allowed this series to breathe new life in an already robust and highly visible Houston arts scene. This series allowed us all to grow and come into our own as collectors and contributors in the eco system that had already embraced us and provided us the opportunity to welcome others. It is truly a pleasure to grow in such a space.

- Vernique, Founder

A few highlights:

Necole Irvin, Director of the Mayor’s Office Of Cultural Affairs, served as the conversation facilitator for the second iteration of the Fall series.

The background of each artist lent itself to a beautiful and robust discussion on the roles of the artist, the art collector and the art in the sphere of collecting. Established collectors shared their stories and encouraged and guided rising art collectors on the precipice of starting their collections to make the leap. Gaynell Drexler and Janice Bond reminded us of our home-grown artists and that we have many artists right here in Houston that can be in your collection.

The weather (the breeze was wonderful), the food, and the company truly made for a delightful Sunday afternoon, beautifully captured by an ECB alum, Alyssa Benjamin.

The culmination of Season 1 of the Align ROI Emerging Art Collectors Brunch brought out established collectors, journalists, curators, and of course, the emerging art collectors on which this series was designed. This series was always designed to be a safe space to ask, share, and connect.

This beautiful space provided by our wonderful hosts, Art Is Bond, and featuring Floyd Newsum and Wayne Bell Jr. proved to be the perfect opportunity to converge on an amazing conversation centered on the how’s, the whys, and the when’s.

Not only did attendees have an opportunity to enjoy the magnificent food of Chef Shakti Baum, but they were also allowed the breadth to continue the connections and discussion to build on the arts ecosystem.
