The Emerging Collectors Brunch Series Pt 3

The ECB series is truly an event to experience and behold. Not only did contributors leave with “gems” they were also gifted a 1/30 fine art Giclée print, Baby Whitney, to add or start their fine art collection.

This makes the third print gifted in this series. The artists also had works on hand that had never before been exhibited and some available for acquisition.

If you are someone who has any interest in fine art or collecting, I encourage you to attend a brunch or event. Come alone or with friends because at the risk at sounding cliché, we are family and we can’t wait to create community with you.

- Vernique, Founder

A few highlights:

We also had the incomparable Necole Irvin serve as the conversation facilitator. Necole invoked her mother’s teaching skills in this conversation and engaged not only the artists but every member at the brunch table in the room.

we rounded the event out by dining in the picturesque Hogan Brown gallery. Not only was the space immaculately arranged, but it is also housed in the historic El Dorado Ballroom. so much history in one location. Chris Williams and his staff were outstanding in their service during the brunch.

The conversation ranged from how music influences and informs the creation of the art to how art has influenced Mark and Roberts children. Participants discussed the impact art has had on them , the friendships formed and cultivated as a result of becoming a part of the arts ecosystem and how they have grown as result.

A Brief Review

What an event, to have two artists who were the catalyst for the creation of this series.

Robert Hodge created and curated Collect it for the Culture which brought art to downtown Houston and introduced individuals who wouldn’t normally be exposed to work, the opportunity to view fine art in a space that was familiar to them. The mission of the series, is to highlight the role collectors have in the preservation and perpetuation of culture through their ongoing support of the arts.

Mark Francis, not only nurtured my love for art by answering all my ignorant and annoying questions but created a podcast to allow artists to fully express themselves in a comfortable environment and allowed individuals to actually understand the knowledge they were digesting. Arts explanatory comma podcast filled a gap we didn’t know we needed and was well received.

Mark even interviewed Hodge in 2018. Listen here.
